Web design is comprised of graphics, content and logic. I prefer Fireworks and Stylizer for design, WordPress for content management and PHP/ASP/MySQL for backend development.

HTML Visual Designer

HTML Visual Designer is a rapid HTML forms designer and jQuery IDE for Windows.

Simply draw the form elements where you want them and this software writes the code for you. Nice, clean HTML. You cut and paste it into your favorite code editor!

Many have said "jQuery needs an IDE." HTML Visual Designer is a light weight IDE that does a lot of the heavy lifting for you.

The built-in codespace allows you to add specific jQuery code to each control you draw. Double clicking the control brings up the code editor where you can wire up your jQuery. The IDE manages the control ID and Class names for you.

You can even send the HTML to your favorite code editor with one click!

Thompson Builders

Thompson Builders is a family run construction company located in Jewett Ohio. Being 4th generation craftsmen, they specialize in just about any size home improvement project.

I designed their site around the logo featured on the work trucks.

"We build your dream… From footer to finish" is their motto and let me tell you, they do exactly that. These guys built our addition and they did an awesome job.

Dr. Kedia

Dr. Kedia is an M.D. and Certified Medical Aesthetician serving the Akron/Cleveland area. I designed his site around a boutique concept… big, bold and colorful.

His "brand" was created starting with a new logo design, geared towards his demographic.

The WordPress backend allows his staff to make content changes easily using Windows Livewriter.

Some of his services include: Body Sculpting, Botox, Juvaderm, Laser Vein Treatment, Microdermabrasion, Skin Rejuvenation and Anti-aging technologies.

Stan Miller

Stan Miller is a great jazz vocalist/saxophonist who plays around Northeastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.

He is often found performing in upscale establishments, such as wineries, country clubs and supper clubs. The sounds of Stan’s smooth voice and cool jazz saxophone provide the perfect backdrop to a relaxing evening of sipping wine and enjoying a good conversation.

I created Stan’s site around a previous design. We kept many of the elements and colors while giving the site a fresh look.

The WordPress backend allows Stan to manage his own content from the road.  He can upload new music, place images in his gallery and create new content.

Crystal Arthritis Center

The Crystal Arthritis Center consists of a group of board certified rheumatologists who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of arthritis and related diseases.

I created the site around their logo and colors. The WordPress backend allows them to make changes to the site.

Greenleaf Family Center

Greenleaf Family Center is a not-for-profit social service organization located here in Akron.

This site has gone through several incarnations during the 5+ years it has been online. The current design features a WordPress backend that allows agency admins to keep the site updated.

I designed a dynamic calendar (Flexi-calendar) for current events.

FirmPOS Software

This is a leading Club Management Software Suite. I spent years writing it and am proud to say this application is now being sold by eSynaptic Response Inc.

It was originally written to allow small fitness centers a better way to manage membership and sell goods. Named after “The Firm” in Akron Ohio (the first gym I worked out at) – it started as a very simple program but quickly became a full featured commercial application used all over the world.

They offer a full range of IT development, implementation and maintenance services. Including secure and proficient network design, successful systems integration, effective project management and installation of technologies.

I designed this site by modifying a commercial WordPress template picked by the customer.

Family Medical Care Plus, Inc.

Family Medical Care Plus provides an array of services ranging from routine/urgent care appointments to lab work, breathing tests, bladder scans and bone mineral density screening.

I created the site around their logo and colors using my jbCMS Content Management System.

Located in Canal Fulton Ohio, Cut and Curl Corner is a great salon that needed a Web presence.

I created their site around their logo and colors using my jbCMS Content Management System.

Monthly specials and coupons are simple to add with the integration of my Coupon Fusion service.

Jason Burgess

My personal website. This site serves as my official place to rant about whatever.

I use WordPress for content management because I love using Windows Livewriter for my posts. WP also makes it easy to integrate great 3rd party plug-ins.

The site is a great tool to share the music I record in my studio.

Will I Walk?

This was a social experiment to see if I could create the largest jury in the world.

"Will I Walk?”  allows you to vote daily on popular criminal cases in the news. It tallies vote percentages in real time and shows you the ‘popular vote’ on each case.

This was also an experiment of combining various technologies. All in all… I loved the way it turned out.

NPLICITY Software

NPLICITY (pronounced: "in•plicity") is the "Guitarist’s Audio Player".

I wrote this software out of 100% personal frustration. Most people know I am a guitarist and I love learning new material.

Picture this… you’re trying to learn a song. The guy is playing a million miles an hour.. you’re trying to get it… Windows media player or Winamp is crashing… you have to stop playing, reach up, fumble for the mouse to stop the track…rewind and start again..release the mouse… AHHHHH where was I?????

Now picture this…

You load up the song… pinpoint the area of the song you wanna learn.. hit the space bar to start the track and hit it again to stop or rewind. Even loop continuously until you get it!

The guy is playing too fast? Use the Tempo control to actually slow down the riff (without changing pitch) – I am not kidding… I was learning “Fall on me” by Kings X one note at a time… it felt like cheating. At one point, I was laughing out loud because I was learning this tough solo.

Once you get it at a slow speed… you can gradually speed up the riff until you can play it at regular speed!

Coupon Fusion

This is an online service that allows the business owner to create printable coupons for their website. (without bugging the Photoshop guy or web designer)

What makes it unique is the included coupon design software. Unlike any other offering in the market, we provide a graphical, easy to use application where coupons can be created visually.

The software also manages start and stop dates for coupon visibility and with just a few mouse clicks, a customer can ‘fuse’ these coupons into their website.

This is a leading Club Management Software Suite used all over the world. I started writing it in 1999 when a friend needed a way to manage his gym.

This software has an extensive feature list and handles just about every aspect of running a successful business.

FirmPOS is extremely flexible with a strong emphasis on allowing the customer to create custom work flow.

From it’s powerful workspace builder (called rRad) to a complete WYSIWYG report writer, the fitness center can create software screens we didn’t include to track just about any type of demographic info from their customers. Then create custom reports to view the collected data.

NPLICITY Software

NPLICITY (pronounced: "in•plicity") – is the guitarist’s audio player. It’s designed to slow down a song without changing the pitch. Learning songs has never been easier!

This was a fun application to build. It was the middle of winter… cold and snowy. (YUK!)

I locked myself in and coded for a solid week.

It takes advantage of DirectX to manipulate an audio file. You can slow it down without changing the pitch. This makes learning guitar solos MUCH easier.

The 10 band EQ allows you to remove unwanted frequencies or ‘bring up’ a hard to hear guitar in the mix.

Coupon Fusion

What makes this solution unique is the included coupon design software. Unlike any other offering in the market, we provide a graphical, easy to use application where coupons can be created visually. The software also manages start and stop dates for coupon visibility and with just a few mouse clicks, a customer can ‘fuse’ these coupons into their website.

This is a combination of Desktop Application, Web Server and Web Design. The application provides a powerful graphics environment where we use a vector to raster conversion, thus making coupons EASY.

Each item in the coupon is created as an object. It can be moved and sized exactly the way you want to see it.

Once you have the coupon the way you want it… the software flattens the objects and stores the output to PNG, JPG or GIF.

The application then sends the finished coupon to our online server that "fuses" it to your website during the dates you provide.

SQL SideKick

SQL SideKick is a template driven assistant that allows you to quickly produce ADO code for Visual Basic and ASP based on a single table or complex query.

It connects to just about any database and writes the code for you!

I wrote this around a great ADHOC query builder library. I allows you to create complex joins and then it writes all the code for you.

This software has saved me hours of programming.
